I've got the same problem with Cinema4D that I wanted to try out - my friend uses the same copy and it works fine for him. For me it starts and then it disappears thus making it impossible to work.
I've tried practically everything that seemed logical (uninstall - install,...) but still, it doesn't work. And yeah, it definitely should work on a AMD 3400+, 1024 MB RAM System with around 175 gigs of free HD space...

So, I'm curious if you get any proper solution for your problem, maybe it helps me too. Either Way, I'm currently getting everything done so that I can buy the student's version of the new R9, I've only wanted to see how fast it actually runs now on my new comp, on my old one I was not able to do compex things anymore.

f

I do use it besides Photoshop, mainly because it got somehow better filters (at least they are better for my uses)...it surely has some flaws on windows but generally I don't have problems and it runs pretty stabile.

Most people use Adobe Photoshop, I think that's pretty obvious...other people, like me, do use other programmes, too, like the gimp, a freeware tool very ismilar to PS, or Paint Shop pro.

To give advice is somehow useless, I think. You need to learn the basics first and then you can look at tutorials available everywhere and then you may ask questions - otherwise I don't think that we can help you.

I am a devi for a few days now. I'm not very active and I have a whole lot of 2 pieces uploaded yet...>>XD

Any comment on my works is greatly appreciated as Abstract art is the kind of art that I'll do in the future - and as I'm still a bloody beginner every feedback is very welcome. ^^

Yeah sorry Myke...ive never actually seen someone good at that and i
always felt that doing those was awkward...of couse i never liked him
as a character so not like i tried very hard
but yeah
sounds interesting... I will have to play someone...when I go back to
the US for Christmas...lol

Hey, no problem though it's kinda sad that you have really no-one to play with. Anyways, I'm also a little bit too much into VS gaming now, I should remind that not everyone has like 2 GB (which is actually not THAT much compared to others) of VS vids in his video directory ;]

f

Quote by ZTundra06Chewster...I wish I could see you play because I have yet to see a decent Captain Falcon user due to
the slowness of his moves and his awkwardness as a character.

O_o
Slowness of CF moves???
Have you ever thought about using his aerials? They are VERY fast - you shouldn't care about his smashes, they are a nice addition but his knee-kick is just awesome. Eddie or Isai, both great CF players, demonstrate that very often...

Quote by ZTundra06What I was talking about was beating All star mode or something with
three lives and on hard difficulty. Also, there is one that ivolves
beating both master hands at hard difficulty in adventure or something
like that. I dont remember exactly....but it isnt easy.lol

Ah, I remember - I have the one you get for beating All star on Very hard, the other one, too, I guess, as I've finished Adventure and Classic with all charas on very hard, so, I should have the one for beating both hands.
Reminds me of event 50 which is actually the hardest event for me. I just don't like these hands and I remember that I needed several tries when I tried to beat them.

Quote by Vivid-Rein The only thing im
afraid about is the dark world, because samus looses energy when she is
not in the light parts of that world... ;_; creepy...

>>XD
Yeah, that's quite an interesting idea, involving darkness and light into gameplay. I'm very curious in how far that will influence the whole game/story. I also can't wait to see the awesome cutscene with dark Samus for myself...

f

Quote by ZTundra06...especially the hard difficulty three lives
one with no C-Stick...AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. O_o.........

Huh? Never heard of that one - or maybe I did but I don't really care. I still miss 3 trophies or something...I was just too much into HRC and MM. And now into VS, of course.
Either way, does someone play one of the Stadium Modes very often?
I did, I palyed a lot of HRC, Cruel and 10 MM. Today my scores wouldn't be that great anymore but back at these days, like 1, 1 1/2 years ago they were pretty nice.

Quote by YugureKazewave dashing anyone?

Sure, w/o wavedashes it would be boring somehow...especially when you're waiting for your enemy's respawn. Especially nice with Fox and his shine =D

Quote by ganonthe best character really depends on what type of game your playing
fast characters are generally good for 1vs1 duels
the best in this field is generally considered to be fox or shiek.
i usually play 4players, time, free for all.
here, the powers are much better. roy, ganon are solid choices.
i play fox a lot and he does alright is this mode too.
about marth...
personally i think roy>marth
the reason is that marth's main killing move, the forward smash, is
only effective when u hit your opponent with 'the edge' of he sword,
and that's a major pain in the ass. even if u hit with the edge, roy's
smash is still stronger. the trade off betweenmarth and roy is some
speed for a lot of power.

Ever played against a good Marth Player? Who tippers you like 2/3 of the time? If yes then you'll know the difference between Roy and Marth - Tippers are just too strong and extremely annoying when you try to grab the edge and suddenly you get hit...O_o
And Marth's combo ability is also better than Roy's and Combos are Marth's main weapons. If you get your opponent caught in a combo then it's most likely that he'll either suffer great damage or maybe he's even dead...

But on the other point you're very right, I wouldn't play as shiek in 4 player matches, Ganon and CF are especially nice in these games.

Samus is an extreme special character. I just can't get along with her but there are quite a few nice players that make great use of the special abilities that she's got. I mean stuff like bombs and the grapple beam - because of them she's able to survive for a long, long time and are also nice to watch ^^

Quote by ZTundra06lol...ice climbers...its funny...but they are actually awesome
characters if you can be fast enough. It is just difficult to do
everything they are capable of. By the way um...to Myke, im not sure if
i confused you but by club I meant like society type club where a bunch
of video game people come together and play...halo and starcraft was
there as well.

Yeah, I know what you mean but such clubs are also very rare in Europe (well, I actually don't really know that) but at least in Austria you won't find something like that easily. Maybe that only applies to a non-online game like SSBM but still, it's sad...
The Ice climbers are one (or two...) of the most annoying charas. Good IC players are rare but there is e.g. Vocal, who was pretty succesful on TG6, a tourney where many of the world's best players were fighting....
Personally I couldn't play with them as I hate Nana since the days I was playing the HRC a lot - she constantly messed up my techniques >_>

f

Oh, you played in a club? Must be a nice club =D
Anyway, it is PAL here in Europe, and there are quite a few differences between the two versions. They are not major ones but I do actually notice them when playing ntsc. Especially Fox's up+B is "much" longer than in PAL O_o

f

For Tier lists you should check out GameFAQs and http://smashboards.com
There you'll find like everything about SSBM and ongoing tourneys and stuff, basically all you need to know =]

i have no problems about you saying that Marth is the best chara - Fox128, my friend I've mentioned before, is an awesome Marth Player and our dito-matches are always cool...but usually I don't have a chance against him when playing Marth vs Marth...^^;

BTW, do you now have the NTSC or the PAL version of SSBM?

f

Heh, I'm pretty much fed up with such discussions, if you have ever heard about the tier lists of SSBM then you'll know what I mean...
Basically, Speed kills - many people think that Fox is the best character and I can only agree on that, at least partially. He's got no spike but who cares as he has the almighty shine. He's also not very heavy but he's not to big either and incredible fast and is an extreme character if you are able to handle his speed and, of course, his shine combos...
Other people think that Shiek is the best one - even more deadlier when you're good at combo'ing...Marth is considered as a top tier, too.
On the other hand, I don't really think that it is really important if there's a real best character - as long as you have fun playing...
I like to play with Falco, Fox, Marth, Ganondorf, Falcon, Mario, Doc, Shiek, Game and Watch, Mewtwo and Jiggly.

And btw, I really envy the american smash community - you won't find something like that in Europe. Personally I have the luck to live near to a really good player (just recently he got 5th on a "pretty big" [for Europe, that is] tournament) but besides him and another friend of mine there are no real matches anymore here...we are probably among the very best players of Austria.

Quote by sammoi think maya's actually the primary tool used to do games. i remember
someone telling me that ffviii was primarily done through the use of
maya

Maya is the so called industrial standard - companies like EA use it...

And yeah, if you mean 2D software, the most common ones are Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro and, heh, there's also the GIMP ^^

f

I'm waiting so badly for this one...I've speed-run'd MP several times and really, really enjoyed my first few runs through it - it was so nice to see Samus in 3D ^^
But the trailers are showing us an even better game with interesting new ideas like involving Dark Samus (must be kinda like SA-X of Fusion) and the new beams. I'm really looking forward to this game...

f

Quote by roshinkuwhy buy it XD?

There ARE free versions of it around, you can find basically everything on the net - you can even find the newest version of Maya and all the learning stuff offered by the programmers of the 3D rendering suites, too.
And if someones is really into 3D stuff or especially 3DSM make sure to visit http://www.3dtotal.com
In my opinion one of the better CG sites out there.

f

My favourites changed from team to team...back then, when GS were pretty new I was something like a so called "progamer" at playing Pokemon. However, that just means that I didn't like specific pokemon only because of their cuteness but also because of their abilites and tactics - and these were changing with every team (and I had many teams...^^; ).
I do have a few very favourites, nevertheless. Like Snolax, Tentacruel, Alakazam, Meganium and Scyther.
All of them had great movesets and were a great addition to almost every team.

f

Thanks for all the inofrmations, freshBlueO2, I'm currently gathering infos in order to buy a new comp and so I'm always searching for an expert's opinion on that.

f

Okay, I understand. I was already worried when leaving my comp on over night ^^;
However, my cooling system is a little bit noisy so I wouldn't like to leave it on when I'm going to bed...

f

I'm just interested but is there any reason for not shutting it off right now?
I can't believe that your computer is in use ALL the time...

Quote by xandmanphotoshop is absoultely the best one :D

and man, for a second there i thought you said there was a GIMP version for windows, heh ^_^'

There is one - might not fit the windows style perfectly but there's a plugin that solves that problem, too.
And I can imagine, if you start with Photoshop, you'll never want to use the gimp. For me, that's different as I've started with the gimp. If you count the price as a criteria on comparing these two, then it is definately the first choice as it offers nearly the same features (the same features if you're using some plug-ins and scripts) at no costs...while PS costs like...err... 700 $ ? Whatever, for sure a LOT more...

But of course, that's just my opinion about that. Actually I think that both are great and that they complement each other in some way.

f

Quote by RitalinThe GIMP is right next to Photoshop, the only problem is the lacking of
brushes. however, there is a way around that. XD A nifty program I use
call ABR 2 GBR -- it turns ABR brush files into GBR files. :D Only
works on unix-based machines, so if you use GIMP on windows you're out
of luck.
With ABR 2 GBR, The GIMP is the exact same as Photoshop. :)

Ah, that's not ture anymore ^^
The developer of the abr 2 gbr tool made a win .exe file, too. He uploaded it some days ago (actually I did mail him about that and he was so kind to compile the file).
url: http://the.sunnyspot.org/gimp/tools/abr2gbr-1.0.2.zip
I haven't tested it though, I didn't have the time to. But, if you're using it please tell us (and also Marco, the developer) if there are any problems.
